About Your Tour Guide -

Julie Averbach recently graduated from Yale University with a double major in History of Art and Psychology. Her interests encompass areas as diverse as Indian graphic novels, activist poster art, and decorative arts of the Belle Époque. Julie leads smARTee, a virtual arts enrichment platform promoting museum access and emotional well-being. To date, she has led virtual art museum tours for 4,500+ people from over 21 countries.

After visiting 150+ Trader Joe's stores nationwide, author Julie Averbach uncovers the surprising historical origins of Trader Joe’s art, from the ancient Roman sculpture on Caesar Salad to the Art Nouveau icons adorning store wine labels. This tour will forever change the way you see Trader Joe’s.

     

    Julie Averbach holds a B.A. in History of Art and Psychology summa cum laude from Yale University. She is the author of The Art of Trader Joe’s: Discovering the Hidden Art Gems of America’s Favorite Grocery Store. Averbach has been featured as a Trader Joe’s expert in CNN, Artnet News, and CNBC. She also serves as Founder & CEO of smARTee, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that provides virtual art museum tours to promote arts access, wellness, and lifelong learning.
